Safety Notice. Please be aware

The Kubex SOLO Walk in Bath is supplied 'bath only'. It does not include any ancillary equipment such as brassware, shower equipment or a temperature limiting device.

(Anything shown in photographs of the bath are for illustrative purposes.)

Serious injury can result in using a walk-in bath that does not have a means of limiting the temperature of the incoming hot water and therefore protecting the occupant from the risk of scalding.

Protection from Scalding in a walk in bath

It is important to use a device known as a thermostatic mixing valve (TMV) which installs along the route of the pipe work to the bath. This valve is adjustable and designed to limit the temperature of the incoming hot water supply.  Should the temperature of the hot water on its way to the bath become hotter than the temperature set on the valve, cold water is blended with it to reduce the temperature to that selected.

Thermostatic blending valves operate under a scheme known as the TMV Scheme and range from 1 to 3 - where TMV3 is the best. The higher the number, the more accurate the control. TMV3's are what you could expect to find in a hospital for example. Thermostatic Blending Valves should not be confused with 'thermostatically controlled shower equipment'. Blending valves limit temperature, thermostatic control stabilises +/- to a degree or so. It is hoped this description has helped you can understand the function and necessity of such a device.

Beware - Some unscrupulous installers have in the past tried to save money (upping profitability) by omitting to install TMV3 devices. Of course, they aren't the ones to suffer agonising pain when scalding water suddenly hits your feet. Do the job properly and a walk-in bath will enhance your enjoyment and freedom to bathe in perfect safety.

Please bear this advice in mind when you consider purchasing this type of product. Cutting corners can be lethal. TMV3 equipment is of course available separately, it's just not included in the price quoted for this particular bath.

We are always happy to answer any questions you may have and explain the various blending valves available.
