General Bathroom Design - hints, tips and jargon

General guidelines -
  • Make your bathroom look bigger with effective use of colours and lines.
  • Bright coloured bathroom products next to white walls could overpower a small room.
  • Exposed shelving makes the space seem bigger.
  • Vertical lines add height to a room.
  • Horizontal lines (vanity tops, cabinets and mouldings) expand the space visually.
  • Pale colours on the walls and floor make a room appear larger.
  • Use mirrors to add length, depth and width to a room - an entire mirrored wall can appear to double the size of the bathroom.
  • Allow plenty of clearance for the door to open.
  • Floor covering should be slip resistant when wet.
  • Ensure there is sufficient shelf space for your toiletries.
  • Remember to allow storage space for cleaning materials, toilet paper and medicines etc.
  • Ensure there is adequate ventilation.
